Back to work

Well, after a very stressful election week, it looks like the Biden team will win the election.  That said, it promises to be a messy transition (should Biden prevail) and the Senate is still up for grabs due to the Georgia runoff election to be held in January.  If the GOP maintains its majority, then things focused on climate change will be very difficult to move forward.  The Trump Administration has probably cost the US some 6 yrs of progress in dealing with climate change.  That is not to say that we haven’t taken 1 step forward in some areas, but most certainly there have been 2 steps backward in many others.  This is at a time when to meet the Paris agreements would require very aggressive efforts on many fronts.  Add to this the Pandemic and not only is the US not making sufficient progress but the whole World is going to be economically slowed down, impacting everyone’s efforts.

All this just reinforces the need to consider how to best prepare for climate change’s long term impact on our lives, those of our children and grandchildren.  Assets may lose value, homes lost to weather events or fires and shortages of many staples of life.  The party some of us have enjoyed for the last 70yrs is coming to an end and it is time to plan for an uncertain future.  That said, there are always ways to make the best in difficult situations, so let’s talk.
