Look, let’s get real. If we do everything possible to convert society towards zero emissions by 2050 (and this is a big if), then we can hope to achieve a 2.4 deg C average rise in global temps. Remember, this is average, which means lower over oceans but significantly higher over land and at the poles. With lots of hand waving and promises at COP26, we will have to wait a few years to see what progress is actually made. That is not to say that progress is not being made, but as I have said in reference some months ago to Bill Gates’s book, this is a complete do over of almost everything we have spent the last 175 yrs building.
A huge and expensive task!
Humanity will not disappear but will be immensely challenged to adapt to a much harsher planet and billions will have life threatening impact while the rest will have to find ways to adapt. So, once again, I would urge those who can, to consider developing a long term strategy of how best to cope while doing everything they can to contribute to the changes required.
CASA’s goal is to help with that adaptation. If you can, think about where you might want to establish a refuge that can in the meantime support a farm to table business model. If needed, one’s extended family can move there and have everything to be self-sustaining for an extended period of time. This is what my sustainable farm model in WA state will demonstrate. Time is short and the best land will more than likely be gone by 2030.
