COP27 – will it make a difference?

Lots of finger pointing, damage claims and low on commitments.  I guess there is quite a bit of frank discussion on just what the future looks like and a growing acceptance that 1.5 deg C cap is just not going to happen, so now they are saying 2.0 but reality is probably closer to 2.8.

David Wallace-Wells (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Wallace-Wells) who I referenced early on my Resources page as painting a very bleak picture of the future, now has updated with a new article:  Beyond Catastrophe, A New Climate Reality Is Coming Into View (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/10/26/magazine/climate-change-warming-world.html) which is basically saying that instead of 4-5 deg change, we now can hope for 2-3 degrees, which btw, will require everything we know to change.  He is well informed and probably pretty close to right.

As I have been blogging/saying, things are going to get difficult and less than fun.  Not today or tomorrow, unless you are in the path of a hurricane, tornado, sea level rise, drought, famine or heatstroke.  We are making lots of progress but not fast enough and emissions are still increasing due to more people and demand for a rising std of living which those with low stds deserve.

I just want to be a farmer, living harmoniously with the Earth and having the lowest possible carbon footprint while being as self sufficient as possible and providing a bit of farm to table contributions to locals.  Probably going to do fewer blogs until the farm gets more real but always open to sharing my growing knowledge if anyone wants to reach out.

Best of luck!
