How fast will humanity respond?

With all the news about climate change; hurricanes, fires, floods and heat waves, the question is, how fast will humanity respond?  In short, not fast enough.  Joe Manchin is fighting the infrastructure bill on behalf of his constituents in West Virginia who have a very narrow viewpoint.  The auto workers union is now pushing back on EV conversion plans since it will impact their jobs.  BMW is resisting conversion to EV in Germany, despite the Volkswagen Group (Volkswagen, Porsche, Audi) embracing the conversion.  Obviously, fossil fuel companies are greenwashing to slow down pressure to convert.  And finally, if we did stop today, things will get worse for the next 10 yrs before flattening out (not getting better) for the next 50 and then hopefully start improving.

The point is, we are already in trouble but can make it worse (President Biden just stated this) if we don’t aggressively embrace carbon reduction efforts.  That said, although many are now intimately aware (1 in 3 Americans have been personally impacted by climate change this year), it remains unlikely that they will make the changes necessary until it is too late and there are huge repercussions.

Sorry to be such a downer, but this is reality.  So, as I have said many times, what are you going to do about preparing for the upcoming challenges?  For those who can, preparing a refuge strategy might be one option, for others, just having set aside a few weeks of food and water stores will help.  For all of us, doing everything we can to reduce our carbon footprint and encouraging those in politics to embrace the necessary changes is critically important.

It is going to get ugly and no one will be spared some impact.
