Last November, I mentioned that it looked like we were in trouble in regards to a high pressure area that was sitting off the coast of California, pushing all the moisture up to Washington State. Well, it looks like this continued to be the case and as we end the traditional ‘wet’ season, the west/southwest is looking at what might become a severe drought and potentially disastrous fire season (as if last year wasn’t already the worst on record).
In addition, if you look at the map above, you can see that the area that feeds the Colorado River is smack dab in the middle of the exceptional/extreme area which means the 40 million people in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada will be under threat for enough water. The relentless march of climate change and its impact are growing every day.
