Been awhile since last post

Been quite awhile since the last post as we sold our home in California and moved permanently to the Washington Farm.  The first few months were spent completing the sale and prepping the farm for winter.  Turns out the previous owners, who owned the farm since 1952, basically never threw anything away, nor mucked the barn in probably the last 50 years.  So there was probably 15 tons of material to be removed by hand with some help from the tractor – whew!  Got 6 large raised beds built and installed in the greenhouse for early Spring planting and used some of that cow poop as fertilizer for the raised beds.  Just before Thanksgiving, 10 baby chicks arrived and have been growing fast.  They will transplant into the livestock barn/coup in another 2 months once they are a bit more cold tolerant but meanwhile are living in the water/electrical shed were they can be kept nice and warm.  All our efforts to manage water drainage has paid off, since this is one of the wettest Fall/early Winters in a long time with record flooding in Washington but evidence of climate change’s new normal if there is such a thing since who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Speaking of Climate Change, things are proceeding faster than early models predicted while the World seems to be losing interest in what could be an existential series of events.  All the things I have blogged about are happening but we just go merrily along ignoring the data while maintaining the status quo for the most part.  I wish I could say I am wrong about our difficult future but it looks like that will not be the case.
